"Thendara" è una fra le barche meglio conservate e tenute della sua era che ancora veleggi ai giorni nostri.
Fu disegnata dal velista scozzese Alfred Mylen per Sir Arthur Young, nel 1936, e costruita nell'anno successivo dai cantieri Clydeside di Alexander Stephen and Son (Linthouse, UK).
Thendara è un ketch con armatura aurica, scafo in teak, con lunghezza di 32 m (LOA 36 m), lunghezza al galleggiamento di 22,6 m ed una larghezza di 6,9 m, con dislocamento di 135 ton, ed una superficie velica di 558 mq.
Nel 1986 fu ricoverata nei Cantieri Valdettaro di La Speza per un restuaro che non fu terminato.
Nel 1992 fu trasferita ai Cantieri "Southampton Yacht Services", dove alla fine i restauri furono completati nel 1994.
Da allora veleggia soprattutto nel Mediterraneo, partecipando a varie regate di barche d'epoca, dove si confronta con barche come Mariette ed Altair, mostrando ancora ill numero velico 36.
Thendara is amongst one of the best preserved and conditioned yachts of her size and period afloat on the seas today. In 1936 Sir Arthur Young asked Alfred Mylen, one of Scotland's leading yachtsmen, to design him a large sea worthy racer cruiser. She was completed a year later by the Clydeside yard of Alexander Stephen and Sons (Linthouse, UK).
Thendara is a gaff rigged ketch with a teak on steel hull. She is 105' 7" long (LOA 120') and has a beam of 20', displacing 134.17 tons, with a sail surface of 6000 sq.ft
In 1986 the Valdettaro yard of La Spezia, Italy began a fresh refit but never completed her.
In 1992 Thendara went to Southampton Yacht Services and was finished in 1994.
She now enjoys the classic regattas in the Mediterranean and has had many a battle with the Herreshoff schooner, 'Mariette', and the Fife schooner, 'Altair', still wearing the sail number 36
